GOVERNMENT HOUSE.

HONGKONG. 6th. August, 1918.

Sir,

I have the honour to acknowledge the receipt

of your Despatch No. 116 of the 13th. May, on the subject of Dr. V. V. M. Koch's pension.

I do not concur in the calculation of the

third paragraph of the Despatch, since Dr. Koch was not an officer entitled to pension on the value of his quarters.

The total of his pensionable emoluments will therefore be £756 only and his pension 220/720ths of this, viz., £231 per annum.

I have the honour to be,

sir,

Your most obediant,

humble servant,

THE RIGHT HONOURABLE

WALTER LONG, M.P.,
